Two Irish Voyaguers

I was commissioned to create a poster for my two piece folk group "MacTague and MacAnallen" for an upcoming event in February.

The show will be at a venue in close proximity to a Festival that is held every February in Winnipeg named "Festival Du Voyageur". For Franco-Manitobans, this is their cultural centerpiece of the year. It celebrates the Voyaguers who were the first European settlers to venture into then uncharted territory for Fur and other wares. There's usually plenty of drink, music and dancing involved.

The show that we were booked to play is not a part of the festival but is during and near the festival. With this in mind, I wanted to come up with an illustration and design that still nodded at the Voyageur heritage but was very much its own entity.
